ANIME ٩(◕‿◕)۶

Anime is used to refer specifically to animation from Japan or as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastical themes. It consists of an ideal story-telling mechanism, combining graphic art, characterization, cinematography, and other forms of imaginative and individualistic techniques.

The first format of anime was theatrical viewing which originally began with commercial productions in 1917. Tezuka was not only an innovator in Japanese animation, he also first studied at Disney’s productions and soon created Japan’s first animated star: Tetsuwan Atom, better known to westerners as Astroboy.

The major difference between anime and American cartoons is that unlike American cartoons, which are only watched by children, anime is popular among the Japanese adults and is watched by millions. The audience is not merely directed to children but to teens and adults as well. The same applies to Japanese comics known as manga. The popularity of anime and manga has helped westerners gain a broader understanding of Japanese culture. Fans now collect their favorite anime series or visit comic book stores that stock all the latest ranges of manga and anime.
