Another Anime Review Is About To Begin!

Baki 2018 General Info That Nobody Cares But Should!

Baki 2018 is a martial arts anime that aired at June 25 2018 by Netflix. The studio behind is called TMS Entertainment and is famous for anime like D.Gray Man, Lupin, Detective Conan and many more. It will have 26 episodes that last 23 minutes each and in general the anime is quite popular as it have a couple of prequels.

Plot

First of all in order to watch Baki 2018 you should watch Baki The Grappler that date back to 2001! The basic plot you need to know regarding the previous anime, is that Baki is the son of Yuujirou who considers to be the strongest fighter in the world.

Due to some circumstances that i can't reveal to you now as it will consider a bit of spoiler, Baki aims to become a fighter that can surpass and beat his father. For that reason he is doing all kinds of different training and in the end he joins the underground martial arts tournament in where the top martial artists gathered and fight in an arena without any special rules.

trailer

The only rule is not to use weapons and aside from that they can easily break body parts and even "kill". The winner is considered to be the strongest fighter. In there we gonna meet some awesome characters with unique martial art styles.

Baki 2018 takes place after the underground tournament and what happens is that 5 death row convicts that apparently have never taste defeat gather in the city where Baki live in order to finally find a challenge. Some of the best fighter of the underground tournament also join the fight and we get to see some intense fighting sense between the 2 "factions"

Is It Worth?

The simple answer is YES. Now let me explain a bit further as to why i think that. First of all, in the first Baki anime we get to see intense fights in where legs & hands break and people completely destroyed. Now the fight scenes are more brutal and in a way you can say it's a development and an evolution for the anime.

Now, there are no rules as those 5 consider that a fighter should always ready to fight and as such they literally go anywhere to fight and use whatever they can, like knives, threads and even lighters. The fights are way more brutal than the first one and obviously the animation is way better than the one in 2001.

The only drawback i can see, is that sometimes they use CGI which is basically crappy and that way we really miss some good scenes!

Not really a big fan of animes showing big muscles (With Toriko as the only exception, although I still hate how characters there were drawn) XD

I did watch a few episodes of this almost a decade ago (7 years ago? Wow!) on our local television and the fight scenes were really good. I still do hate how it is drawn though lol

hahaha i really love that masculine design :P and even more the brutal fight scenes!

Have you seen JoJo then? :p

The best thing for me regarding this series is the unpredictability of the matches, like how Hanayama's fight went, that was nuts haha

dang this used to be one of my favorite comics!
epic scale hand to hand combat! 😄

then what are you waiting for! Grap some chicken and beer from the 24/24 and watch the anime! :P

What I really like about BAKI is both the drawings AND the way fights are done and/or told. Like @ascheriit was saying, the Hanayama fight was nuts, and the policeman telling the other policeman how the fight went, that was cool.

That's quite true and as you mentioned too the drawings and the brutal fight scenes are so damn good!

All fighters are given the overpowered trope that is why it is so fun to see how things will unfold when they go toe to toe with each other, if they can only polish the use of CGI it would make the show so much better or maybe drop it totally lol
