Yuna FF10 *Cheap* Cosplay Tutorial - Release Tonight

in #anime9 years ago

Hello Steemies!

So, I am on an anime kick, and decided to look up my name in Japanese! Turns out it is Besu! Man that's so much cooler than Beth! I wish I could change my Username, but oh well! Alas, from now on I will be referring to myself in my videos as Besu! I plan to release videos in twos! I will make a Besu Sews video which will outline and explain how to do a cosplay on the cheap, and then a subsequent video showing off my awesome new cosplay with most likely a clever parody of some sort (Besu Sings! Yay!)

The first in this series is going to be Yuna from Final Fantasy X. This was really my first experience with RPGs and got me totally hooked to the FF series! It is a toss up for me between 10 and 7 as my absolute favorites! I love 10 because I love the Chocobo side quests, which is funnily enough what I decided to make my parody video about. So there's that.

I really love Yuna. She is kind and sweet and beautiful and her character in the series was so helpful!

(When my hair was short and I didn't have to spend money on wigs!)

I loved her character so much that it was my first real cosplay at a convention. I spent hours on this costume, and on my friends' costumes. We went as Rikku, Yuna and Lulu, and I poured weeks into this Wakka costume for my other friend, but we never got a picture of that! Super sad! :( :( :(

(Here we all are in our cosplay glory!)

This was at the Saboten Con which was fairly new at the time, and ya know, I have mixed feelings about anime cons. They can be super fun, and they def are, but there are also people who take themselves and the events WAY too seriously..like...lighten up guys, you are dressed as a real-life representation of a make-believe cartoon character! I actually find the straight up nerd cons (AKA Phoenix Comicon) to be WAY more inviting and a lot more fun! Also, there are all walks of life there too, not just anime peeps. I am pretty nerdy across the board, so I like to cosplay in a lot of different areas!

(I r srs cosplayer and can't smile for a picture with a pretty lady...)

Anyway, you can be an all-in cosplayer like I have done in the past...

(Just guess how many belts it took to make Lulu's dress...GUESS DANGIT!)

OR

You can be a "do what you can with what you have" cosplayer, like I have become with three kids and no money!

(Oh how I miss those halcyon days of being able to spend money on costumes and not basic necessities!)

I really think that anyone should cosplay if they'd like because it is a lot of fun! I am always working on improving myself, but I won't let that stop me from cosplaying certain characters! I have a LOT of sewing experience and I have even made cosplay costumes for other people, but the point of this blog is to show you how to do it on the cheap, and provide some fun entertainment for you as well.

If you ever have any questions about anything, let me know! I wish I had made a cosplay tutorial for my Rey cosplay, but hey maybe I still will at some point!

Be on the lookout for my video later! I have been trying to upload it to DTube all day!

Happy Friday guys!

(And Happy Pizza Night! YAYAYAYAYAY)

Final Fantasy 10? Brings back memories.

I can see you put a lot of effort in your costume. Congrats.

Thanks! Yes, FF10 is a major throwback. Though I haven't had time to play new games in a while, so it doesn't seem like it's been that long...even though this was like 10 years ago! I loved the Tidus and Yuna romance, but I was never very into Tidus. Actually none of the male characters in FF10 were particularly enticing, except Auron. Leave it to me to ship for the 50 year old though. Le Sigh!

It's cool when you can participate on fest as cosplayer and as tailor) I will follow u

Thanks so much! Yeah, I fixed a lot of wardrobe malfunctions that weekend, that's for sure! Especially on Lulu's dress! If something works in a video game, it definitely does not mean that it is physically possible to portray in real life! The belts on her dress dragged down the material causing it to rip, no matter how much reinforcement there was. And since most machines don't have the capacity to sew through the thick leather of belts, I had to hand sew each belt together. It was a Herculean task for sure!
