1 year ago today, we published excerpts from an interview with Oda’s current editor Suguru Sugita, where he guessed that One Piece was approximately 70 percent through its run.

Eiichiro Oda has now revealed to One Piece newspapers that the series is approximately 65% of the way through its enormous run.

“Interviewer: 4 years ago, you said, “I’ve been saying that we have reached the half point since 2 years ago. Now, we’re at 60 percent.” What about now?

Eiichiro Oda: I’d say about 65 percent . I need the courage to chip away at the ideas I come up. It ’s a race against time between my remaining lifespan and the end of the series :D. I am not going to be able to make another long series after One Piece.”
