Recently, appeared a new website called make.girls.moe. The website is the fruit of Yanghua Jin and Jiakai Zhang's hands. Underlying them to create the anime girl "creator" website is a journal of their own that discusses the making of anime girl by an artificial intelligence.

The journals shared on the 92th Comiket show a few days ago discussed the use of Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), an artificial intelligence algorithm usually developed for facial recognition. They use the algorithm and train it with the faces of anime girls.

In its application, the training for this artificial intelligence is by introducing several pictures of girls that appear in novel visual games. They chose the image style of 2005 upward, because according to their style of image from 2003 already looks "old and old."

Their purpose in making this site and journal is actually quite simple. To quote directly from them, this is the reason:

We all love anime characters, and are often tempted to create our own characters. But, it takes tremendous effort to practice drawing, but before we have to be able to design it first.

To bridge this, we created a way to create an anime character design without the need for professional skills.

The author himself has tried to use this site and make a girl who can be practically quite funny. The selected parameters are only hair color: green, while other parameters are random.

There are several parameters, namely hair color, style, and eye color. The three parameters have many options, so the website itself is given a drop down to select an option that matches your taste.

The interesting thing is if we enter the same parameters, then AI will issue a different anime girl image. This is because there are many datasets owned by this AI related to each tag in the site.

Even so, this web application is certainly not perfect. One of the problems that the creators describe is the still small image resolution (128 × 128 pixels). But, the emergence of this site is expected to help those who have difficulty designing their own anime character.
