The heroes of my era : Don Bluth

New heading, new concept, the heroes of my era is a new note that will aim to introduce to you those illustrious personages who marked an era, now gone, of my own life. Whether they are iconic figures in pop culture or have had a direct or indirect influence on our currents of thought, these men and women deserve to be honored for what they have offered us. And it is in this perspective that we begin with the celebrity of the day: Don Bluth.

Having realized his first feats for Disney in 1959, as an interlocutor on the feature film: Sleeping Beauty, Don Bluth will undoubtedly mark an entire generation with a style of drawing at least not Conventional, with mature features, contrary to what was proposed during the period, which will bear its trademark in the future productions of the famous studio (Robin Hood, Rescuers).

The heyday of his career came when he chose to emancipate himself from the Disney studio in order to create his own works in total independence. Thus making cartoons marking such as: Fievel, Brisby, All Dogs Goes To Heaven,notably with the help of Steven Spielberg.

In 1983, a game called Dragon's Lair was made by our man on behalf of Cinematronics. This game is no longer to present since it is an FMV game, to understand by the an interactive animated cartoon, precursor of a gameplay system called QTE. Although difficult, one can only salute the artistic work realize (aaaaaah! Daphne!) And that will be an imperishable memory in the minds of the players. A little trivia: Do you know that the animation of Daphne was inspired by models from the famous Playboy magazine?

This great man did not stop on the way and will propose new games: Space Ace, Dragon's Lair 2 but also new feature films until 2000, such as Anastasia and Titan A.E.
Now enjoying a well-deserved retirement, at the age of 79, Don Bluth is definitely one who has accompanied us through all stages of our lives and relatively in all areas of artistic expression. He therefore deserves the title of hero of our time ...
