Living close to the creatures: my experience with a baby duiker

I was on the farm today,and an opportunity of imitating @papa-pepper with animals of the wild sprung up.

The farm located in the thick bushes of the village where it is located have several wild animals (or let me say animals of the wild so as to make them not all sound dangerous) surrounding it- I am afraid of snakes the most though (I mean, some of them have poisons and can kill). The locals of the village come around to farm and to set traps for the 'bush meats'- deer, grass-cutter, rabbit, duiker etc which when caught end up in their pots of stew.

Luckily for two adult duikers today where they were feeding, escaped ending up in pots of the locals who found them close to their farm. As they fled from the locals, they couldn't help the baby duiker escape too. As reported by the locals who brought the baby duiker to me and my team to sell to us, the baby duiker ran the best it could to escape but got tired easily.

When they brought it to us, I was reluctant to hold or even touch it, but I did eventually- it was so cute. After running a lot to try to escape from the locals, it became so tired it could not stand for the few minutes that it was with us. The locals wanted us to buy for rearing, but as none of us has any experience and space for it we could not keep it with us.

It was a nice experience seeing and touching a duiker for the first time. @papa-pepper's posts of being close to and taking pictures of wild animals motivated this post.
