What a strange octopus? There are no arms, but eight legs

in #animals6 years ago

According to scientists, octopuses are the most intelligent invertebrates. They are also known as cephalopods. These conclusions are drawn after long observations. It turns out that cephalopods can be trained without much effort, they have a good memory. And what is most incredible, surprises their ability to distinguish between different geometric shapes. If you feed them, they will quickly get used to you, they will recognize you and can become tame.

Amazing animals with eight tentacles and two eyes were recognized as the most reasonable creatures of the sea. Using their eight tentacles, the octopus can move and grab its prey. The octopus prefers coral reefs as a key residence.

There are no bones in their body, only soft tissues around all parts of the body. The only solid part in their body is the beak that is located between their eight tentacles. This hard beak resembles the shape of a parrot's beak. They have excellent eyesight, but they can not hear. Another fact that strikes: octopus - the holder of three hearts. One chases blood through the body, the other two push it through the gills. The octopus blood plasma contains hemocyanin instead of hemoglobin, the blood of these invertebrates is blue. On the head of an octopus are huge eyes with a rectangular pupil. Their size ranges from 50 mm to 9.8 m.

More than 200 species of octopuses have been found in water bodies around the world. They live mainly in the oceans. The species that live in cold water are larger in size than those living in warm water. But they live only in that part of the ocean, where there are many coral reefs and rocky places. They can be found living in crevices of rocks. They eat what they consider to be edible, including crayfish, shellfish, crabs, etc. D. Keeping the prey, the octopuses use their tentacles. They use poisonous saliva to inject it into the victim's body. The production weakens, and the octopus, using its hard beak, sucks out its flesh.

Octopus usually hunt during the nights and spray a cloud of ink to confuse prey. This cloud of ink is also used as a protective measure. Spreading ink, they can hide behind crevices of rocks and get rid of predators. This ink cloud is so dense that it does not allow the predator to orient. The lack of bones makes it easy for them to move around in coral reefs. Sharks and eels are some of the biggest threats that octopuses know about. They have a unique opportunity to mix with the environment. This helps them escape from their enemies. If their tentacles are injured, it is not dangerous for the life of octopuses. Their tentacles will gradually grow back.

Until now, scientists have not come to an unambiguous conclusion about how many legs an octopus has. Two limbs are exactly legs, but the rest are a question for the time being without a definitive answer. Octopus - a very interesting marine life, the study of which continue to work scientists.
