DYING ELEPHANT CALF RESCUED
Camp Jabulani an animal conservation outside Hoedspruit in South Africa successfully rescued an elephant calf ,which was orphaned when its mother was killed.The small female elephant was extremely dehydrated when it was found.It seems it had been trying to suckle from her dying mother.The calf had a little chance of survival since there were lions in the area,so the conservation was given permission to relocate it to a safer place.
After spending a night in the warmth of heating lamps ,the traumatized calf was introduced into its new family,which immediately accepted her in a manner unusual of typical elephant behavior.
14 semi-domesticated elephants, rescued from a culling program in Zimbabwe over 20 years ago are housed at Camp Jabulani. South Africa's elephant population has been stable,but ivory poaching has seen almost 30% of elephants wiped out in the past years.
This makes me feel good. I drove through North parts of South Africa last year and got to camp in open area where there were elephants. And got to drive through Bots where there is ele's just crossing the national highway in some parts .
Elephants are beautiful animals ,and this poaching is not good at all
