Four-legged allies, sensitive and loyal, I LOVE DOGGOS!

Our animal allies are able to see the differences. They know when our tone is one of anger or joy. Our animal friends listen to us with absolute loyalty and offer a dedication which is life long.

Dogs have such clear agendas, unlike people who may be pursuing a hidden interest, dogs are upfront about their desires - what they want is affection, play, and food. Addressing their wants becomes a joy, rather than a chore.

Dogs have so many simple joys; even just seeing the face of their human can cause a dog to leap for joy. Showing us how important we are to them creates a desire to do better, be kinder and make more comfort and ease for our dogs.

Humans can be difficult, moody and vindictive; they can carry anger, and they can also seek revenge. Humans can be scary.

Dogs forgive so quickly. They seek approval, and they appear shame-faced when they know their behaviors are bad. People can be deceptive when their behaviors are bad.

Animals offer a healing power which is somehow more accessible than what we receive from our human counterparts such as emotional support animals, or animals which can alert us to our blood sugar levels, or to an impending crisis. Somehow our animal companions are sensitive to us in a way which we can react to with acceptance and understanding.

I haven’t owned a dog since I was a boy. Growing up in the country taught me the importance of outside time, and running space for dogs. I always wanted to be a dog owner with a huge yard, or better yet open space where I could allow a dog free range. I also want to be able to own multiple dogs; they are pack animals and enjoy each other’s company.

It’s difficult to imagine the loss of an animal friend, letting go of a being which has developed a reliance on me. We outlive our animals in most cases, and seeing a loyal companion’s last moments is traumatic. Still I crave the company of an animal companion.
