Selling Strategy:Emotional blackmail
Image
Every Saturday we go to our Village’s clubhouse for the once a week market day.
There are so many people gathered together to get their food supplies.Vendors from different provinces are there to sell us fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and a lot more.
I love Market Day!
I usually bring one of my kid or all three of them with me.They can hang out beside the pool or a nearby cafe while waiting for me.
While walking towards the cafe they saw puppies for sale along the sidewalk. We stopped by and cuddle the puppies.I noticed that the vendor was using a fine tooth comb(suyod) for the puppy’s fur.I can only imagine how it hurts the furbabies. When he’s done,he simply toss them inside their cage or under it(a plastic box used for fruits and vegetables). They were also inside a small cage that barely has a space to move or even breathe.I haven’t even seen a water/food dispenser for the puppies.
This poor condition and careless handling of the puppies was obviously intentional.
As a furparent or an animal lover, your instinct or conscience will tell you to rescue those poor animals. But would that really save them?
Here’s a brief convo between the vendor and us:
Vendor: Tell your mommy to buy a puppy for you.
Kids: We already have a shih tzu and we don’t have enough space for another dog.But they are so cute.
Mom: Kids,let’s go.I don’t budget for that.
The vendor took the puppies from their hands saying,
Vendor: If you can pay for them you can cuddle them but if won’t then you can’t.
I intentionally told the children we cannot afford it in front of him so that he would stop emotionally blackmailing the kids to beg me to buy them. They are quite cheap for their breed however buying puppies from him won’t rescue these poor souls. It will only make him continue his ruthless business.
As we walked away from the man I started explaining to my children what is really going on.Dimpy(12yrs old) suggested that we should take photos and report them.Brilliant!
So we did took photos but from a distance.
The man was kinda creepy in a way.
I will be sending an email to PAWS (The Philippine Animal Welfare Society) to report this vendor and hopefully he will be stopped.
I will also attach this article to my email so that they would know how much we hate this kind of business. Please show your support in the comment section.
God bless us always!
