Rain And Friends
It has been a while since I've written a blog about how this hound dog makes so many wonderful friends nearly everyday and everywhere she goes. This picture is of her and her friend Sonny who may have been in some of our previous photographs and blogs. These two have been buddies for quite some time now and they have been hanging out since we were visiting El Cajon California in the canyons. They actually have traveled almost completely across the entire country in the big truck ride here to Arkansas.
Sonny who is kind of a fly solo girl is a lot like Rain Drop Hound Dog in the ways of traveling... they each have been on the road most of their lives. She rides in a big rig truck with her mommy and she has been across the country in nearly every direction. Like Rain it is pretty much all she has ever known.
Here are three good friends hanging around the yard on a very hot Arkansas summer day enjoying the evening as it is just beginning to cool down as we're all hoping that there will be nice long thunderstorm that we have been expecting for most of the day. On the left side of the picture is Shine the humble and gentle pit bull dog, then at the bottom there is Blixy the adventurous little kitty cat that seems to be thrilled to have dogs as his best friends and of course on the right side of the photo is the star of the show Rain Drop Hound Dog.
Shine is a very sweet and gentle boy that is growing more and more lethargic since his trip to the veterinarian to get neutered and get a basic check up. He had a bit of a rough start in his life but now he seems to be enjoying the indoors and the simple things a lot more. He has always behaved quite well however lately I have noticed his appreciation for leftovers and treats has influenced him to enjoy being more obedient and staying closer to home. I believe Rain Drop is teaching him a few of her ways to become spoiled.
This little guy is both an indoor and outdoor cat that is a high spirited,curious and a friendly feline that doesn't mind the long hot summer days as he chases butterflies and plays with his canine buddies everyday around and inside the house while remaining humble no matter what the bigger dogs throw his way.
Snicky is isn't much for going outside of the house as he doesn't care to get to far from his food dish. He tends to like a much more comfortable atmosphere and gets a little upset when the hot sunshine is blazing down on his back while doing his very best to make a quick trip to the door. This guy does not have what it takes to be an outdoor cat and he will make it clear that he is unhappy with a few grumpy meow sounds as he is slowly walking through the tall grass towards the front door. Him and Rain Drop seem to have some kind of trade agreement with their food and often switch from one food bowl to the other even though Rain knows she isn't supposed to eat cat food.
Snicky really is a bundle of joy in so many ways. I have been woken up several times in the morning by the soft kisses he gives me on my nose. I have fallen asleep next to him and Rain Drop more times than I can remember and I have noticed that Rain Drop is sometimes a bit jealous of him when we are all three setting on the sofa and I have spent a few minutes talking to and petting Snicky. Rain also doesn't seem to be a fan of me giving him anything from my plate when I am eating.
Last but not least there is this guy.... Ragnar the little German Shepard puppy. He is the newest member of the gang and is trying hard to fit in with the rest of the group.
He is adorable, playful and very energetic. Sometimes he is the center of attention and Rain Drop can't stand that. She will rarely play with him and seems to be completely annoyed by his presence everytime he comes near her almost. She is absolutely terrified that he is going to steal the spotlight and so she mostly ignores the little guy. He's into everything and thrashes about like a Tasmanian Devil... Blixy is the only one that really makes any effort to befriend him and his social status is not going well for him at the moment. I think he is hilarious and a whole bunch of fun....but I don't let Rain know that. I'm sure that when he is a bit more grown up and calms down some that he will be part of the gang and I also think that he is on his way to become a wonderful and smart dog.
