I've been reading through your posts and upvoted all of them. I hope you'll do well on Steemit (so far, I have little doubt of that!) and I hope it will eventually lead to some extra income for you and your husband. You seem like a very nice guy who deserves that bit extra!

It's our dream to one day start a black cat (and dogs, and really, any color that actually needs us) and special needs rescue and sanctuary. I'm planning to register the Coon mix as an emotional support animal. If we get to have our sanctuary, I'd like to train our rescues as therapy and service animals and give them to veterans, and anyone that needs them free of charge. Take care of their special needs and they'll take care of yours.
And a 'pet pantry' where those that need financial help caring for their pets can get food and other necessities for their pets. Everyone deserves the unyielding love of havings pets. Money shouldn't dictate who can have that love.
But that's just a pipe dream at the moment.
Right now, we have to manage to survive. Can't change the world if we starve or freeze to death.

Hey, do you think steemit is a platform where people may be willing to pay for art commissions? Nothing fancy/expensive. My style is...a bit unique.

Maybe! A little while ago, @surpassinggoogle decided to launch the #steemgig tag, in which Steemians offer a service in exchange for a certain amount of Steem or Steem Dollars (SBD). Maybe that's something for you to check out? Offer your own steemgig?
Sounds promising! I can do stupid little cute animals (mostly cats, foxes, bats, and...winged hamsters...). But I also draw strange roses. In high school, two girls had me draw my roses on them in sharpie. They had them tattooed on them.
I also draw weird trees.
