MY FIRST SPOTTED SALAMANDER OF THE YEAR
This place is a herping GOLDMINE!!!
Since arriving at An American Homestead some days ago, we've found 5 species of salamanders, 4 species of snakes, 4 species of lizards, and some other amazing things too! I'll be sharing some photos over the next days as I can, so for now, it's the Spotted Salamander. Check this creature out!

We had them a lot back in Massachusetts living under the rocks where the water drained off our roof. Guess they wanted to keep watch over my garden. Beautiful creatures.

One of the wonderful features of our Great Smoky Mountains here in my "backyard" is that we boast the largest variety of salamanders in the world! No matter how many I find on my adventures in nature, there's always more I haven't discovered yet! Happy hunting!
