MY CHILDREN TALKED ME INTO LETTING A DOZEN SNAKES GO IN OUR GARDEN!!!

in #animals5 years ago

I wonder if that was a good idea...

After watching these baby Black Rat Snakes hatch out of their eggs right before our eyes, we debated on what to do with them. We knew that we had to release them, but it was just a matter of whether we'd release them on our property, or somewhere far, far away from our homestead. After some input from the Little-Peppers and some consideration, we decided to let them go up in our garden area. (This video was shot a while ago, I just got around to editing it.)

Hopefully this will work out well for us. Even if it was a mistake, we'll figure that out soon enough and learn from the experience, but we're hoping for the best. What do you think? Was this a good idea, or a mistake?

if they, as the name implies, catch rats, then they could be useful.
do they eat chock eggs, then maybe not,

Hopefully they will Take Care of Any RATS.............

Chances are the babies will wonder off. At the same time too the black rat snakes you find years in the future around the house might of been one of those babies you let go. Maybe you should of marked them somehow before letting them go? Only way to find out.

Having been bitten by a rat snake out the back of our Thai house, I might have erred on the side of caution and released only 2 to the garden and the other 4 somewhere far away from the house. They ARE wonderful for keeping rodents down but despite being labelled as "harmless", the bites are very painful! My foot was 3 times its normal size and deep purple coloured for about 10 days. Cobras in the roof cavity I have no problem with, and they're more efficient hunters than ratsnakes. LOL.

Balance is everything. Get a cat or 3 to keep the baby snake population from exploding. :)

My friend @papa-pepper is a nice video, a nice memory of your children and these special moments with nature.
