What to do to avoid dog attack
Dogs can all be friendly, sweet and clingy like my neighbor's dog, so I am still uncertain as to why all of a sudden that furry dog was reported had bitten 2 kids.
Probably because it is currently mating season and they're not in their best behavior? I don't know.
I do not know anything about first aid. Sharing this information about how to keep ourselves safe around gods especially ones that is not our own pets.
For one, dogs are very territorial. When they felt you are trying to compete with territory with them, that calls for a trouble.
Also, they easily react to movements like running, biking, and sports playing. here's what you can do should a dog groans and seems ready to attack you any moment.
Avoid the attack
Don't panic. Panicking will just only make the dog felt superior to you. It will be very helpful to pretend you are cool and not feeling intimidated. Instead, make the dog understand that you are not scared, that they have no chance over you.Don't run
No matter how fast you run,dog is always faster than human, there is no chance you can run away as well as running will just only provoke a dog to chase you.Stand still
Again, instead of running, stop and stand still. This will make a dog uninterested. Sends signal that you are not really a threat. It is best to stand sideways to the dog to look slimmer.Don't make eye contact
Looking straight into the dogs eyes will just make them aggressive. Avoiding eye contact means you are not interested for anything especially a fight.Make fists
At first it will look like you're starting a fight, but making fists is actually a way to protect your fingers from being bitten off.
Distract a dog with another object
Out of all ways, I think this is the most common. I even see kids doing this to shoo the dogs away. If you have something on hand, throw it away from your direction to distract the dog's attention on you.Command the dog
Don't let the dog think you are the prey. Avoid the attack by commanding the dog to back out or back away using a full firm voice.
Fight back
If it necessary for you to fight, do it. Give a dog one in the nose, throat or back. Continue if you will see sign of retreat.Ask for help
Make sure to protect your body's vital parts including face and neck.
After the (Attempted)/ Attack, check your body parts for even the smallest wound could lead to infection.
Don't forget to wash the wound in a clean running water before anything else.
Be safe everyone and hope this would help.
