Humane Society taking care of dozens more dogs and puppies after big rescue
Two big animal rescues in one day the same day officers who rescued 23 dogs in deplorable condition on the northeast side a dozen more dogs were surrendered from a home on Dulli southwest of downtown Eyewitness News reporter Sharon Koh joins us live at the San Antonio Humane Society with details Sharon Deborah the San Antonio Humane Society is now taking care of the dogs and the puppies that were surrendered they came from a home where a man had more than forty animals covered in feces and urine ACS rescued 23 dogs living at this home on the northeast side yesterday it's unfortunate there were lots of puppies outside and their body condition can go from good to bad really quickly a concerned resident alerted ACS about the homeowner who was taken into custody it's always a sad situation to see to see however the end result is getting the animal out and and for us being able to get that animal into an adoptable home that's what officers had to do that same day Asya says a man had 40 dogs and cats inside his home city rules allow up to five dogs eight cats or combination where you can have five dogs and three cats the dogs in this case were pregnant or had just given birth they are mixtures of little chihuahua terrier type pup super cute the owner was willing to surrender them a decision animal agencies say was the best one unfortunately because they were never spayed or neutered they kept multiplying there are options out there but if you definitely are realizing that I just I can't do it please you know reach out to your local shelter the dogs are up for adoption at the Humane Society here as for the puppies that won't be until another 8 to 10 weeks reporting live Sharon cone Ken's 5 Eyewitness News
