You know those donation boxes on shop counters? We have some too!
I'm one of those people that doesn't trust the coin boxes that are all over the place throughout the world. I don't remember which charities it was referring to but the point of the news story that I read was that most major charities don't even use the money for the thing that are claiming to help. Instead most of the money goes into lavish travel and salaries for executives and a fraction of the money ends up actually benefitting whatever the cause of the organization is.
Well our organization is not like that so if you ever see one of our coin boxes, please give us a bit.
Of course unless you live in the UK or Thailand you are really unlikely to encounter one of our boxes, actually it is impossible an illegal for us to put them anywhere else. I think that most animal welfare charities can be trusted though because I keep in touch with many of them all around the world and just like us at Krabi Animal Welfare, they tend to be almost entirely run by volunteers. We only have a few salaried workers in our ranks and these people could be making more money if they worked elsewhere. They aren't here for the cash, they are here because of their love for animals.
90% of the donations that we take in go directly to the helping of the animals because we were fortunate that our land and buildings were donated to us by a generous benefactor. Our overhead is very low and most of our workers are volunteers. I'm relatively certain that most animal-welfare centers around the world are the same way.
So if you happen to come across a donation box somewhere in the world that is for animals, please drop a few coins in there. You'd be surprised how much this helps organizations like our own and our ability to continue helping the less fortunate animals of the world.
