10 Rare Animals That Are On The Verge Of Losing From The World (#1)
There are many beautiful and amazing animals in the world. Some are very familiar to us but some are not because they are critically endangered. They are so rare that they might be extinct soon. Now we are going to take a look at some of these animals of rare kind.
1. Hairy-Nosed Wombat
This land mammals are heavily built, they have strong jaws to dig their burrows. Hairy-nosed wombats have bodies covered in soft, grey fur even have fur on their noses which sets them apart from the common wombats. As this animal is nocturnal, its nose plays a vital role in finding food in the dark through smell. Its historical range extended across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, but now they are critically endangered.
2. Ploughshare Tortoise
This rare land tortoise are only found in Madagascar. They live on grass, herbs,shrubs and bamboo leaves. Despite of being cute, this tortoise is on the verge of extinction. The total population of them is 500. Though there are ongoing attempt to protect them , scientists predict this species to be gone within 10 or 15 years.
3. Okapi
It may look like a zebra or a deer but Okapi is a close relative to giraffe . The okapi is an elusive herbivore that is found in tropical mountain forest in central Africa. Because of deforestation , now they become endemic species.
4. Gooty Tarantula
This beautiful looking blue spider is an arthropod which is found only in Andhra Pradesh,India. It lives in the holes of tall trees where it makes asymmetric funnel webs. An aggressive tarantula may cause death to human with its strong venom.
5. Sumatran Rhino
It is the smallest rhinoceroses,although it is still a large mammal. It is also known as 'Hairy Rhino' or 'Asian Two-Horned Rhino' . Once they inhabited rain-forests,swamps and cloud forests in India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia & China. Now they are critically endangered.
