Baby Cockatiels Day 1 to 13
This is a video showing the first two week of a cockatiels life! He is first hatched with his eyes closed and had just a little fuzz for feathers. I never knew the mother and father cockatiels take turns caring for their young. Look how loving the father is as he feeds his babies mouth to mouth. By day 2 the little birds have a bit more mobility, you can see them trying to stand and stretch their cute little wings!! After just a few minutes of movement they are exhausted and can hardly keep their head up awww....
The color of their eyes can help identify their phenotype cinnamon, luntino, ect. The two babies love to cuddle together for warmth what mom or dad are not touching them. By day 6 they are starting to take on their colors and markings which helps camouflage makes identifying them possible. By day 11 they are just starting to open their eyes and take in the world around them. They are still being fed by mom and dad but now they are able to tilt their head back and cry out letting mom and dad know when they are hungry, which seems to be every waking minute and this constant intake of food has produced rapid growth. The mom and dad take turns leaving the nest to go get food, never leaving their vulnerable babies alone. They are truly great parents as they have to be in a world where the little birds are under constant threat of exposure to the elements as well as predators. Soon these birds will be big and strong enough to leave the nest and find their own mates and the wonderful cycle continues!!
The video was enjoyable. I never knew it was vomit that they ate. But bugs and worms or stuff.
Ya, I've heard that some birds swallow sand and rocks and keep it in their gullet or something and it allows them to break up food and spit it back out without digesting it in their stomach
