Fascinating feature of the feathers of emperor penguins

The emperor penguins are the biggest and tallest penguins weighing about 30kg - 45kg. In order for the emperor penguins to avoid getting freezed by ice or cold, their feather aids in preventing them from freezing by trapping in air, there separating their body from the ice-cold water.
One wonderful feature which attracts many biologist towards the feather of the emperor penguin is that the feature helps the penguin to project inside water in a jet like manner, enabling escape from predators such as leopard seals.
Inside the water, the emperor penguins can jet through water at very high speed and they can also jet out of water into the air when coming out of the water with the aid of their feather which traps air bubbles and releases them when speed is required.
For this reason, scientists and engineers has been studying the ways to make ship go faster in water by using air bubble to reduce viscosity.
