Kuru with both of her parents as a baby. She was born in Texas and immigrated to Panama. Her parents were born in Japan and immigrated to the USA.
Why an Akita?
When we decided to move to Panama, we wanted to bring with us a dog that would be a good guard dog for our family and home. My husband did some research and found out that Japanese Akitas are very loyal and even have been used as Japanese imperial guard dogs in the past. Our dog is so loyal, when we recently went out of town for a few days, she didn't want to let in our friends to feed and walk her! They had to lasso her from the door and feed her hotdogs to make her not growl at them! She just loves our kids though and is a good fit for our family.
Now a big girl at 1 year and 5 months old!

She required a modified large crate to fly to Panama. Her ears point up too tall for a regular crate!

KURU... THE GROWLY, SCARY DOGGY! We love her.. but she's nutso. A GREAT guard dog though. Truly. Her puppy pics are adorbs. And um, Hachi... ...... just. NO.
Lol! :) She's such a sweet doggie! ;) Snoring behind me right now. Until some scary intruder comes in and she bites of their leg. :) Ha ha!

That's a beautiful dog. I love Akitas. They have such sweet faces. I love her color of fur. I knew how Hachi ended so I only watched the first half of the movie lol.
Lol! That is probably a good idea with Hachi. Mirakuru has some great fur - when she sheds, it's all over the place. Crazy fun! ;)
