If you have the determination and space to keep a dairy cow, these are an addition to any farm. Your cow will give you milk, cheese and butter if you care for it properly. Cows are animals that can help you earn some money selling dairy products. Currently in Venezuela there is a little scarcity of vital milk, and I am very grateful to God to have them because we have benefited from them to support our family ..

There is a diversity of breeds of cows among the most relevant we have:
Holstein Frisian. : This breed of cows are commonly found on farms since these types of cows produce the most milk.
Jerseys: This breed is the second most common breed in North America, and is recognized for its high content of butterfat in the milk they produce. Cows Jerseys are beautiful and gentle creatures (except bulls) and are relatively easy to handle and care for compared to Holsteins, although some Jerseys tend to kick when the time comes to milk them.
Another common breed that should be considered for milking are the Swiss bovine, Devon dairy cow, Shorthorn dairy cow, Dexter, Red polls, Guernseys and Finnish cow Ayrshires.

Care: Like all animals, the cow needs food, water, shelter and enough space to move freely.
Depending on where you live, you will need to tailor a shelter so she can spend the night indoors and during adverse weather. A barn is favorable. If you experience a very cold climate with a lot of snow, you should build a barn to keep it inside when the days are very cold.
Water is indispensable, and you must have access to it all the time.
Stones of salt or loose minerals are also very important for your cow, as well as the food you eat often needs different nutrients that you need to function properly.
You need a fence or something similar to keep it within limits. It must be a strong and firm fence to keep it inside and prevent it from escaping. If you have a firm and well-built fence you will need to check it only once a week, not every day. If you have her grazing in a place where you have a temporary electric fence, you should keep her there for a few days. You should check her once a day.
