LAUGHING KOOKABURRA
The laughing kookaburra is the worlds largest kingfisher. Kookaburras are native to Australia and New Guinea, with four species in total. The laughing kookaburra lives along eastern Australia and its call sounds like a raucous laughter.
The kookaburra in this series of photos was busy catching his dinner, when he suddenly noticed he was being watched. He had caught himself a worm, which is one of their favourite foods, and was thrashing it around with his beak, when he spotted me and gave me a strong look of disapproval at my intrusion.

They are interesting looking birds... an Aussie friend once told me one of its local nicknames is "Laughing Jackass?" Didn't realize it was a kingfisher...

I've never heard of "laughing jackass" before, but i'm sure they would be called that nickname.
Their laughs are really loud and they sometimes have good timing when you've just done something silly.
That has actually happened to me, I think I tripped or something like that, and they started laughing at me, or it felt like thats what they were doing.
