Miss Peppa Our Nanny Dog 🐶
Today I would like to share with you the story of our most noble and loyal Labrador, Miss Peppa. She’s the oldest of our fur legged children and we got her all those many years ago to help our son overcome his fear of dogs. Not only has she helped him but she has been a loving and supportive family member to everyone, canine and feline included, that has ever walked into this house.
I always like to refer to her as our ‘Nanny Dog’. Like the dog in Peter Pan that always babysat the kids, that’s Miss Peppa. Always here to look out for everything and everyone! A few years ago, we rescued a kitten from the factory where my husband works. Shame, she was so tiny and her mother rejected her when she was only four weeks old. My husband brought her home and Miss Peppa immediately started looking after her. She even started feeding her and even though she has never had a litter of her own, started lactating and every night they would snuggle and she would feed her.
We’ve even looked to her for help with a litter of baby rabbits that were being trampled to death by the other jealous male. Shame, we put the little thing with her and she started licking and cleaning it. Sadly, it didn’t make it. We felt so sorry for her as she searched around the house trying to find it.
In short, she’s amazed me many times over and even though she’s never had a litter of her own she’s never needed to. She gave her love to those that needed her. Hell, even my daughter used to sleep next to her on her pillow when she was sick or sad.
There was a stage where we were considering letting her have a litter of her own. In the end we decided against it as no male ever quite measured up haha. Seriously, I’m not joking. @therneau was particularly fussy where this was concerned. We also just felt like there were enough puppies in the world needing homes and I would have been really stressed about finding good homes for them. I probably would have wanted to keep them all and I just felt like she would have been too sad if we had taken them all away from her.
She’s patient and she has a lot of love to give. Nowadays Oreo is the one keeping her busy and is her new pillow snuggle companion. He likes to push his luck with her and I’m always waiting for her to get really annoyed. She never does, she’s teaching him and it’s like she’s younger somehow. He keeps her on her toes and she’s loving finally having a companion that she can play with properly.
Thank you for reading and remember to keep smiling 😊

Hello @jusipassetti!
Congratulations! Thanks for using the #dogsofsteemit hashtag! This post has been chosen as one of the winners for Episode 18 of the #dogsofsteemit challenge.
Can't wait to see more dog photos from you!
Thank you very much @supernovastaffy :)
Awww, I love our little Miss Peppa :) Lovely post my angel. Shame, yeah, with that poor little dwarf rabbit she really tried. She just wanted the little guy to start feeding off her.
Thank you very much babes. Yes, shame she really did try hard.
Beautiful dog! Although I'm a cat person myself, Miss Peppa looks like a great addition to your family. I like how gentle she appears to be with your baby. With toddlers/babies around, you really need a pet with eternal patience!
Thank you @bengy and you are absolutely correct. You can never be to careful with young kids around. Oh I love cats too, we have two of them 😀
Thank you for telling about Miss Peppa! I have had many dogs in the past 60 years and for pure loving kindness, none was better then my Yellow Lab. Whether it was me, other pets, or friends who visited, he adored everyone and was a loyal companion.
Every Lab parent knows that they are special.
I
Couldn't agree with you more, they are very special.
Wow how amazing, thats mother instict for you! So sweet that she nurtured the kitten! @Steemitbloggers
I know it's amazing hey? We've always been so proud of her for taking little Puzzles in like that.
Adorable Peppa! I've never met a nanny dog before, lucky you have one! I always see dogs as mad and angry, I know they aren't but I had a bad experience with them. I always try to have an open mind when it comes to them because I know I just had one bad experience and not all of them are like that. ^^
Thank you very much @dawnsheree. Always depends on the breed and how they have been raised. It's very easy for a dog to develop issues if they have been abused, especially if the abuse started from a young age.
You're welcome! I know of these things but i'm still cautious when it comes to dogs. We have a number of street dogs and I'm not even sure if they've been closely monitored when they were young.
Nature knows no bounds, what an exceptionally beautiful girl she is. A loving character to help kittens and rabbits makes a unique type of mothering @jusipassetti
Thank you very much @joanstewart. She really has been a blessing in our lives and her patient and loving nature is just one of the many things we love about her.
Lovely story and gorgeous dogs you have! They really do become part of the family hey. We have a staff and she too is 'nanny-like', looks and sounds as though yours have wonderful temperaments! :) (Nice banner too!) 😀
Thank you very much @letsgetquirky. They really are spoilt those two. You should do a post about your staff. It would be lovely to see her :) @supernovastaffy is running a #dogsofsteemit challenge. You should go check it out and enter her.
Sorry for the delayed reply!
Yes perhaps I should! I'm sure she wouldn't mind me taking her picture lol. Ooh but they need to be spoiled I think haha! - probably why Roxy follows me everywhere, oops! 😂
Oh yes I have taken part in that previously, very good. Will have to do another post! :)
Nothing wrong with spoiling them 😀
Loved this! Hearing the story of Miss Peppa really tells me that she's such a gentle gem. :) For her to care for that kitten, so amazing. My mum just got a beagle pup today and we have three dogs in the house. The beagle, a mini schnauzer and a toy poodle. We love dogs so I can really feel you on this.
Thank you very much @zord189.
what amazing miss Pepa! Nice family!))))
Thank you very much @protosun :)
