A friend of mine who lit my interest in photography once said - "Good wildlife photo is one in which you can replace the animal by cat and photograph still will look great."
I thought a lot about his words and they definitely influenced my style.

Last weekend my wife and I walked to the Russian Orthodox Gorny Monastery in Jerusalem. While there is no wildlife in the territory of the monastery, there are plenty of monastic cats. So I took the camera along with me intending to make a picture of cat where cat is not the key element, but part of the scenery.

I ended up with this image:

What do you think - did I pass a "Cat test"?

The cat itself was a gorgeous one, a worthy representative of his species. Here is a closeup of His Highness

Reminds me of a cat I used to know. :)

I think this is actually better with a cat in it. It was, say, a moose sitting there it would totally change the mood. The cat fits this scene much better.

Agree. In this case, due to urban environment, the test should be to eliminate the cat from the image and check whether the photo still looks good :)

No, don't eliminate the cat - the cat is too cute. ;)
