You are in western Washington so our Pugetensis subspecies of the White-crowned Sparrow start singing in ernest about now, with their Me-Me-Pretty-Pretty-Me song. It is like you said, loud, persistent and easily recognizable. Other subspecies of WCSP have songs with similar qualities but slightly different phrasing of the notes. Good birding. Nice post.

Thank you, it's been hard to keep up while traveling. How long have you been birding?

32 years. I recently retired though and have more time to get out than ever before.

That's really awesome that you have been birding for so long. I hope it is always a part of my life.
