You are in western Washington so our Pugetensis subspecies of the White-crowned Sparrow start singing in ernest about now, with their Me-Me-Pretty-Pretty-Me song. It is like you said, loud, persistent and easily recognizable. Other subspecies of WCSP have songs with similar qualities but slightly different phrasing of the notes. Good birding. Nice post.

32 years. I recently retired though and have more time to get out than ever before.
