Animal Photography - Pileated Woodpecker
This is a pileated woodpecker near my home in central Florida. They are quite big birds with a red crest, the biggest woodpecker in North America. They excavate into trees to catch ants.
I know it isn't a great picture but I was excited to see one as I have never seen one before. I was a bit worried about scaring it away if I got any closer.

That is actually a pretty good picture. Those birds do scare easily
They have always sort of fascinated me. I grew up in Australia so only saw them as woody wood pecker in the cartoon, so I was excited to see one.
Thats awesome. They were skittish in Georgia where I used to live - not so much when i moved further north
