Mammalian Animals That Have Been Extinct in the Last Two Centuries!

in #animal6 years ago

Hi, Guys! In the wild, there are many more animals that have not been researched and studied scientifically. Let alone species that have not been found, animals that have been known yet all successfully researched and studied because the animals are extinct.

The extinction of a species is undeniable on this earth. Recorded in history, many species are extinct due to natural destruction, disasters to uncontrolled wild hunting by humans. There are also some extinct animals due to their destructed habitat such as illegal logging and forest destruction.

What mammals have been extinct for the past two centuries? Here's the review.

1. The Thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus)

The extinct Tasmanian tiger circa 1936. Although called a tiger, this animal is not a panther / tiger species. Called a tiger because of its striped skin color.

This animal is extinct due to poaching, other animal game hunting, and the destruction of its natural habitat.

2. Java Tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica)

This endemic animal, has been declared extinct since the 1980s ago. The animals are Javanese tigers in the forests of Central Java and East Java. When the Dutch colonial government opened the land in the 1880s until the mid-1900s the animal was much hunted. Because many residents consider this animal as a pest.

3. The Berber Lion (Panthera leo leo)

The Berber lion has been declared extinct in the mid-20th century. In contrast to other species, this lion has longer, darker hair, covering the stomach and part of the stomach. Average size is also larger than other types of lions, which reaches 3.25 meters (length from head to tail). Compare with the average other lions that only have a length of 2.8 meters.

The berber lion is often regarded as the largest and heaviest lion subspecies, with heavy weights from males being 180 to 270 kilograms and for females of 120 to 180 kilograms.

4. Caucasian Bison (Bison bonasus)

This species of Caucasian bison lives in the mountains of the Caucasus, Eastern Europe. Precisely around the 17th century. As humans began to settle, in the nineteenth century the population declined. The last three Bisons shot dead in the wild occurred in 1927.

5. Schomburgk Deer (Cervus schomburgki)

This animal is endemic to the land of elephants, Thailand. Habitat is in swamps with grass, bushes and cane. Massive agricultural production makes these animals threatened. In 1932, the deer became extinct in the wild and the last died at the zoo in 1938.

6. Quangga (Equus quagga quagga)

Quangga is still a relative of the horse and zebra. The color is yellowish brown with a line only in his head. Formerly these animals were mostly found in the African desert until finally extinct in the 1870s. The last dead Quangga was in the British zoo in the 1880s. Because of its unique, this animal is much hunted and finally extinct.

7. Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis)

This black rhino lives in the western part of Africa. It used to be found in Cameroon. This animal is hunted for its expensive hula. In China, its horn is believed to treat certain diseases. Therefore, this animal was hunted until its existence did not exist in the last of 2011.

Now that's a row of huge mammals that are now extinct. When dinosaurs became extinct due to natural events, these animals were mostly extinct due to human activities. Now, it's time we keep the other endangered sepsies as much as possible. So that our children and grandchildren can see it later.
