A dear friend of mine hit a cow on his way home from work one night. It was almost 20 years ago and he ended up with a severe brain injury that still causes him lots of problems.
oh no! yeah you can't see them until it's too late. My brother and his wife hit some cows in the road one night too, by the time they saw them they couldn't stop.
My friend was driving a small fuel-efficient little car, and the cow ended up landing on the roof. Those sort of accidents really do happen frequently in rural areas where there is a lot of livestock.

Shepherds really are the best. Ana was wonderful, but definitely Jim's dog 100%. It was actually good that she died a couple years before Jim did, because she would have never made it without him. She was so wonderful that one of our friends bought a German Shepherd puppy because she saw what a great dog Ana was. After Ana died we got to puppy sit for Ransom several times sometimes for a week or two at a time and that puppy loved Jim. Jim spent a lot of time teaching him things and playing with him. After Jim died they came over one day with the dog and he stood in front of Jim's chair and would not quit barking. Broke my heart.
oh my gosh that's amazing!
He was so upset that they had to take him home. It made all of us cry.
