#21 : My Favourite #angpao2018 and Why I Think It's Brilliant

When I first came across @howtostartablog's random contest in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive celebration, I was cracking my head as to which Angpao packet I should submit for the contest as only ONE entry per Steemit ID is allowed.

Over the years, I have amassed quite a fair bit of Angpaos, hence choosing only ONE was very difficult to say the least.

That was, until I saw this Angpao packet by AirAsia and I knew this was the one which I am thrilled and excited to share...

Why? Why? Tell me Why?

Let's take a look at the front cover design of the Angpao packet.

It contains all the symbols that represent the Chinese New Year celebration such as the Chinese lanterns, the firecrackers, the double happiness knot, the roof of a Chinese temple and the animal zodiac for the year 2018 which is the dog. Apart from that, it also features the AirAsia logo, the symbol of an airplane and the auspicious Chinese greeting "Gong Xi Fa Cai" emblazoned in red. This simple red theme is also symbolic of AirAsia's corporate colour which is also the auspicious colour during Chinese New Year.

Upon flipping open the Angpao packet, you will notice a promotion for the Angpao recipient to book their flights on the AirAsia Mobile app to enjoy a 20% discount using the Promo Code "WOOF2018". I am not sure about you, but as a marketer myself, I thought this was a brilliant marketing strategy to activate customers and get them to start booking their flights using their mobile phones instead of booking it via desktop.

As I unveiled the Angpao packet further, I was presented with a list of dates for the long weekends in Malaysia from January to December 2018. This will certainly help me to plan my travel dates way in advance to take advantage of the long weekends.

I peeled open the final layer of the Angpao and lo and behold..the entire Calendar for 2018 including the national public holidays in Malaysia is displayed there. All in one piece!

That's not all. When I flipped behind the Angpao, it revealed these words "Small Action Big Change - Recycle". I personally thought this was a brilliant community service message as Angpao packets rarely see the light of day beyond the 15 days of the Chinese New Year celebration, unless there is a happy occasion such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. Hence, this clarion call to recycle old Angpao packets helps to reduce waste and save trees too! And did I mention the Angpao packet is printed on recycled paper?

All the more reasons why I love this Angpao packet because it scores on all front including the design, the functionality, the marketing component, the creativity and most of all, the mission and purpose behind it.
