Definition: it is a State in which blood haemoglobin level is below the normal range for patients age, sex and altitude of residence.
Normal Value: 13-16g/dl inmales and 11.5-15.0 g/dl in Female.
CLASSIFICATION:
1.Based on cause of anemia
Blood loss- acute & chronic.
Inadequate production of normal red cells.
Excessive destruction of red cells.
2.Based on morphology of red cells.
*Normocytic
*Microcytic
*Macrocytic.
