Huawei Nova 2i - My First Android Phone!
I am an ardent Apple fan! Since the launch of iPhone 4 (in 2010 if I am not wrong), I have been using it continuously until now. No, I am not an user of iPhone X, currently I am using iPhone 7 and usually I only change every 2 years when my contract end.
So, what triggered me to get a new Android phone?
There are a couple of reasons:
Recently, while reading through some blockchain and cryptocurrency related projects, noticed that most (if not all) of the projects launched their Android app much earlier than iOS (I believed one of the main reason is Apple take longer to review/accept the app). So, kind of FOMO (Fear of missing out) in that sense :-)
Just happen that my company has arranged for a corporate roadshow (by M1) and I took the opportunity to get myself my very first Android Phone in the form of Huawei Nova 2i. With corporate discount, the handset is FREE, I just need to pay about $37+ per month (after the corporate discount) for 24 months. So, effectively this phone will cost me about $900+ in 2 years.
I have been wanting to try my hand on the non-Apple phone for a while just to see how difference is it from iPhone?
So, what is the verdict of my maiden experience?
The UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) are quite close to iOS and probably Android is providing even more features than iOS (in view of the minimalist concept of the latter). It took me less time than expected to get used to the new UI.
I've been using it for only 3 days now and so far the OS (operating system) is very stable. Also, admittedly the camera/photo quality is better than iOS.
The next question is : would I switch from iOS to Android phone (completely) now?
The answer is NO! I will continue to treat iPhone as my main phone while using the Huawei phone to access news/apps interchangeably.
Are you an existing Android or Huawei phone user? Anything special stuff/features that a newbie should know? Thanks in advanced.
Cheers!
Been an iphone user since the iphone 3gs.
All these years, had only switched to Android for just 2 days, can't get used to it. LOL
@jrvacation : hahaha, that’s fast.. I will continue to use iPhone too :-)
I switched from iphone to Oppo A57 about 6 months ago when my iphone 6 died on me. I was annoyed. I am not a heavy user - in fact the phone was so under-utilised, yet it died on me.
I decided then to switch to a mid-range basic phone since I am not a heavy user. So far, no complains. :-)
@quotes-haven : I do a lot of reading of news/ebooks as well as accessing apps from my phone, so, UX is important to me.
I heard Oppo’s camera is very good, is it true?
@investopenly: I believe it is good. But don't take my word for it. What do I know, right?
Have a look at the photos in my previous posts. They are taken with my Oppo A57. You can then have a better idea yourself.
@quotes-haven : sure, will drop by your post to check it out
Nice! Have never been an iPhone user. Android all the way! Haha.. it will take some time to get use to. You will realize there are a lot that can be customized on Android. I recommend using Nova Launcher, it will help make your UI cleaner and more user friendly.
@culgin : thanks for the tips, by the way Nova Launcher is an app or...? Sorry for the noob question
It is an application which you can download from the Google Play store :)
Noted with thanks
