Andrew Tate was more or less unknown until 2022, but in the past few months, his presence on social media has exploded. But greater attention has led to greater scrutiny. In late August Tate was banned from the full gamut of social networks -- Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twiter, and Twitter -- dealing a painful blow to his Hustler's University online business.
But who is Andrew Tate, and what is Hustler's University?
The short story is that 35-year-old Tate is a self-help personality who revels in misogyny. Purporting to extoll wisdom to men that help them "escape the matrix," Tate has falsely claimed that women bear some responsibility for being sexually assaulted and that they have no "innate responsibility and honor."
How has Andrew Tate become famous?
Unfortunately, Andrew Tate has become famous for the wrong reasons. He repeatedly expresses misogynistic and homophobic views, such as claiming rape victims should “bear some responsibility” for their attacks and that he wouldn’t give a man CPR if he needed it because it’s “gay.”
Andrew Tate has a couple of podcasts available to stream. these include Jet Talk with Andrew Tate, which is described as a “self-improvement” podcast. It links to a website that describes Hustlers University, which isn’t an accredited education institution but asks users to sign-up for a small initial fee. Once enrolled, users receive instructions on topics including crypto trading, stock analysis, financial planning, and drop shipping.
Andrew Tate encouraged members of Hustlers University to post videos of him speaking his views on TikTok and other social media platforms.
Since being banned from social media (more on that below) Andrew Tate has now closed Hustler’s University, claiming it has “no future.”
