Wow man, after reading this, I'm definitely going to have to watch Serenity and probably watch Firefly first. I'm honestly really pumped to see what other film recommendations you have coming up!
You won't regret it. Firefly/Serenity is awesome!
You should definitely watch the show, Firefly, first. Otherwise the movie and the characters won't mean as much, and also, you'll get some payoff of mysteries posed in the series.
