When to punch a Nazi?

in #anarchy7 years ago

Recent headlines have seen violent responses toward the culture's more distasteful voices. White supremacist Richard Spencer is punched during an interview. Milo Yiannopoulos' Berkley speech prompts riots. Ann Coulter cancels her own Berkley appearance over security concerns. Justifiable outrage against outrageous people and ideas seems to spill over into fists, fires, calamity and chaos.

But are these responses appropriate and/or helpful? Is it ever appropriate to respond to words and ideas with a physical blow?

I find it interesting that the anarcho/communists actively encourage fascist violence against people they call fascists who aren't.

Socialists are the biggest hypocrites. Generally selfish.. take from someone else so that THEY can gain. They don't like when someone mixes into their lunch box though.

No. It's never right to resort the physical violence in response to someone's words.

Those that do, do so because they don't have the wit or words to respond, and dumb fists are all they have left.

If you are going into battle with nazis or anyone else that you disagree with, arm yourself with knowledge and a good vocabulary.

The greatest artillery is knowledge

I'm a Christian and one who trained in martial arts as a teen. My take is that violence is the last option, and only for defense of self and family.

I get passionate about my conservative politics, but I've found myself learning the art of apologetic s--which simply means giving rational reasons for your position. I think anyone who really wants their posts to do well has to learn apologetic s to some degree. Merely name-calling or even spouting stats only goes so far.
