Pink Floyd is a silly example, but yeah man the only thing that forcing people to fund projects though the government taxation does is to keep to bad ideas that not enough people would voluntarily donate to or pay for to keep in place, like the war on drugs. Imagine if their was, in a free market society, a charity that would go lock people up for smoking or eating a plant that makes people happy. I don't think it would get much funding.
