"I have nothing to hide": Facebook, Google etc. and your privacy
Today I want to tell you something about privacy in the internet. From most people I talk to, I only hear "But I have nothing to hide". That's just a naive argument. If some stranger comes to your house and wants to have a look at your private stuff, you don't show him either. And the information you give away with your browsing-habbits are much more private than most people think. Google and Facebook know exactly what you are thinking, doing, where you are working, in what position you are at your company, what you are buying, etc. The list goes on and on.
But what can YOU do, to keep as much information to you as possible?
One of the most important points: Don't use google, there are different search-engines you can use, which respect your privacy, like duckduckgo (https://duckduckgo.com/). It's just as good as Google, when it comes to finding stuff.
Don't use the big social-media sites. Just that simple. If you don't want to give up your social-media, use it in an other browser, than that you are surfing with.
Completely avoid using the Google-Chrome browser. It is known, that it sends all data to Google (history, bookmarks, etc) and using it for advertising.
Use something like Ghostery. This plugin do not only block the Ads on a site which do not respect your privacy, it avoids tracking from sites like Google and Facebook as good as possible.
That's it for now, thank you for reading, I hope you liked it. Have a nice day :)
