Regulation Creates a Ghost City in Sydney!

in #anarchy6 years ago (edited)

If you want a clear picture of what government regulation does to a market, look no further than the Sydney lockout laws.

(These laws came into effect after a drugged up roid muncher king hit and killed an innocent bystander at 10:30pm one night, so government subsequently banned all pubs and clubs from allowing entry to their venues after 1:30am, their peak period. Only government can cause you to be able to hear bug sounds in the middle of the country’s largest city on a Saturday night).

Regulating when a business can serve customers, especially banning them from receiving new customers at their busiest times, is a surefire way of putting them out of business.

State worshippers say that we need regulation to “protect” us from greedy monopoly corporations. However, regulation has successfully ensured that the casino monopoly in Sydney has no competition, further enriching them, whilst the small business (you know, the little guy you claim to protect with your regulation) has been destroyed.

This is what regulation does in EVERY industry. It only transfers corruption up to a higher level and eliminates free market competition, allowing the monopoly to charge whatever they want. And you wonder why it costs so much to go out in the city now?

You play stupid games. You win stupid prizes. In this case, a ghost city. What freedom will these statists want government to take away next?
