Pt 3 Powerful Insight From Orwells 1984

1984 is a reminder today of what could happen when power and greed go unchecked

Powerful words are meant to be shared with friends. Here is a favorite passage of mine, and what it means for us all today. from the dystopian sci-fi 1984 By George Orwell.

Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed, will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. chpt 5

Language is fluid and maliable. It crosses borders, and generations. But who is controlling the future of our language?

Let us think for a moment how language is developed since birth. A child learns language from watching and mimicking it from their parents and surroundings. Children are sponges soaking up everything in their first few years. But what happens after the first few years?

The parents hand their children over to the state for their education. But it isn't here where language is being dumbed down. No, it's from the 21st century self-proclaimed "gods" -the pop culture icons and the network executives. Television and radio stars who are pumped into the subconscious of the youth from birth. This is where language is being destroyed. Filtered into fewer characters in order to fit within a tweet or a text message.

Think about what happens to humanity when through multiple generations language is not just dumbed down but flipped upside down.
