The government is a mafia: Understanding the true nature of political authority

in #anarchy5 years ago (edited)

To determine whether or not the government is a moral institution, one only needs to examine how taxes are collected. Do people pay taxes voluntarily, or does the government extract them via means of political force and coercion?

The government does not politely ask that you pay your taxes, it threatens you - just like a mafia. If you don't pay them, the government will kidnap you and throw you in cage, for however long they deem necessary.

The only difference between the government and a mafia is the belief that political authority can be wielded virtuously, and that the government has a moral right to threaten and coerce its citizens into paying taxes.

Threats of violence are NEVER okay. The government is a fundamentally violent institution that will never bring about true freedom, peace, and prosperity.

“What the government is good at is collecting taxes, taking away your freedoms and killing people. It's not good at much else.” - Tom Clancy

The reason why government fails time and time again to deliver on its promises isn’t because the ‘wrong people’ are elected, it is because the very foundation of government is predicated on the initiation of force against peaceful people. It is impossible to reap peace when the government sows the very seeds of violence it claims to be against.

"It is not in the nature of politics that the best men should be elected. The best men do not want to govern their fellowmen." - George MacDonald

When one plants an apple seed, nature ensures that the tree will grow apples and not bananas. Man can only reap what he has sown. It is impossible for man to bend the laws of nature and grow bananas when he has planted apple seeds, and it is impossible for the government to establish peace and freedom when it operates via means of political force and coercion.

This is universal law.

Voting for new political candidates in the hopes of fixing an inherently broken system is akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. The government is a sinking ship, and humanity’s only option to avoid sinking into the abyss is to abandon its superstitious belief in political authority.
