Pathology of "doing something about it"

We the people are the only valid sources of "doing something about it". Whatever "it" might be :)

However, since we can't do everything ourselves, temptation appears to have someone else to be in charge of getting stuff fixed. And in our representative democracy it is not only easier to offload responsibility to "the authorities", it is actively encouraged and in many cases required. Like self-defense, in most places on Earth it is forbidden to have a gun and use it properly, instead expecting Police to come running should you find yourself in need of, um, defense. If you want to fix something yourself, it voids warranty. And because middlemen want to have job security (and your money), their priority is to make sure you never stop needing their services.

That's why we the people are expected to rely on politicians and authorities to "do something about it", whenever a problem arises. They present themselves as our guardians, sole possessors  solutions and answers, captains of the ship we're all sailing on. Every election is a parade of clowns convincing us that they are better, smarter and funnier than the other clown, with arrogant narrative never asking the question why we need them exactly in the first place.

And usually we need them to clean up the mess left by the previous clown. And it is a very nice and lucrative business opportunity as well - more taxes are needed, more power, more soldiers, more. And more control over people. It was funny (not really) to watch Theresa May speaking about terrorists attacks and blablabla, we have to censor the internet and break encryption... what? She has no clue what she is talking about, she is detached from reality, and yet she wants to solve our problems by removing more of our freedom. And the worts part is that there is a remote but non-zero possibility she might succeed to some degree.

That's why we re not going to run out of clowns, ever, until we ourselves do something about "it". Until we start feeling the responsibility ourselves. Expecting politicians to solve your problems for you is like expecting your doctor to make you healthy when his salary depends on you being ill (which is why privatizing health care is as beneficial to society as privatizing prisons). Disclaimer: I'm not talking about particular doctors, I know many and they are wonderful people really interested in helping and healing, same way as particular car mechanics are honest and good. But system the relies on particular source of income is by definition suspected of making sure that the source of income never dries, especially when the system is a corporation required by law to increase shareholder value as its only purpose. So. And when a bit of our freedom is sacrificed so a middlemen of a clown can "do something about it" by creating more smoke, mirrors and mess, it is exceptionally hard to take that freedom back. On purpose. It's like giving a piece of your private lawn to Pest Control Company, because of that mole that's been ruining the lawn - you soon are going to find a castle set up there (and you paid for it too), guards, electricity sucked down from your house, and the mole? Well, now there are two of them, happy and well. And then you are expected to give up more of your lawn and resources. And so it goes, amount of moles increasing, lawn area decreasing and the castle's guards start to order you around, and of course you are not allowed to take any action if a mole knocks on your door and asks for cookies. You are only allowed to call authorities and "we'll take it from here, sir, please step back". And the first mole? Would you be surprised if one day you saw it, by accident, and noticed that it has a little collar with the Pest Control Company logo on it?
