RE: The Illusion of Choice - 10 Reasons Why Democracy Fails
No, not people get forced, only companies.
People are not companies, whatever some nuts in the US say.
Yes, you are free to move to Somalia.
If you don't like it there and stay where you are (I presume US) then this is your own free will and you stay voluntarily. Nobody forces you into the trade "tax for safety and infrastructure". If you don't like it, don't pay taxes and go away. Land of the free!
Er ist Holländer, du Nase.
That's ridiculous, there are tons self-employed people and small companies that are just a community of people working together. Your argument might be valid if you look at big corps, because those are more like actual states instead of just communities.
With this argument you can justify any political system and it is factually wrong. I dont have the funds to start a new live in Somalia, thus Im not free to do so.
Yep, I'm not US based.
If thinking people aren't people when they do things in the name of a company means being a 'nut', then I'll happily be a nut haha. People are still people when they work. Corporations are just legal constructs that people are forced to work under by government.
Saying that you can't be free on the land that you own, is saying that the government (i.e. other people) own you. In any part of the world you're subject to some form of government, so moving isn't an option to become free. And as @thatgermandude says, it can be an excuse for any type of government. If Americans didn't like to be taxed by the British in colonial times, they should have gone away. If Syrians didn't want to be taxed by the Ottomans before WWI, they should just have gone somewhere else. If the French didn't want to be ruled by the Nazis during WWII, they could have gone to Vichy France. Should I go on? The law isn't always moral.
If you reply to me, @lennstar won't get noted about the reply. I hope they change that soon, it is pretty annoying.
Do you want to have a notice every time anyone answers anything to something you have written a word for?
No, thank you. ;)
I would, I already missed some continuations of discussion because of this
No, I was going about a certain US legal idiocy here. There companies have certain people's rights.
That would have been one option. Still they decided to not to - and build their own government. Out of their free will.
There are certain conditions. You have 3 options:
Nobody is holding a gun to your head and saying you have only one option. There are at least three. That maybe all except one option are too unappealing to you is a different story.
It is still true that only companies are required to accept a certain money. If you earn money as self-employed or Ich-AG you still have different accounts (and taxes) for business and private. Theoretically.
That many people do that different is one of the sources of income for Buchhaltungsbüros. (Where you e.g. have to type in a nurse costume as Betriebsausgabe because the person is a cam girl.)
With that you can justify anything and it is factually wrong. All you need is a half way working body to hitchhike to Somalia.
You just prefer to not start at zero, as millions of people in this country have to.
well, being in another country without food or shelter, puts my life in severe danger. So yeah, I don't want to start from zero.
