Understanding The Future of Free Market Entertainment
I've always been the sort of person that likes and supports independent artists. The problem with depending on a 3rd party to fund and support works of art is that it usually comes with a leash. There's a reason why most Hollywood movies are so unexciting these days. There are formulas, guidelines, and sensitive lines that one should not cross - gotta keep the shareholders happy!
But I think that simply stifles creativity, and I believe an artist's imagination shouldn't be restrained.
Anyway, this is a great, insightful video that I've just found on the matter. It so happens that the subject study are my favourite indie artists MillionDollarExtreme! Cryptocurrencies totally makes sense for artists, so I think these guys are excellent as they've the foresight to recognize a technology so early on in the game so that it allows them to be free in their art. Well they might dip into Steem soon, maybe ;)
Well, I fund and support an awful lot of initiatives. But I couldn't see much in that video that I would support. Maybe I'm just getting old.
That doesn't mean that I would want to censor it in any way - it just means that I think that their level of humor or insight is so juvenile and crass that I can't imagine it being supported by anyone with the discipline to have achieved the wherewithal to actually do so.
As an example, I can't see rewarding fart jokes with million dollar movie contracts - but I guess there is an audience for that sort of thing. Can they pay for it?
Hopefully costs of artistic production will become so low that all tastes can be accommodated and everyone who thinks her/himself an artist gets to display their vision, in the medium of their choice, to anyone willing to view. Just don't even think of making it taxpayer funded :-)
Hahah I would reply part same as how I replied @everittdmickey (check out that reply)
In addition, yes definitely not taxpayer funded! Which is why technologies that take out the middleman will be good for these performers. But you'd never know, they might score some million dollar contract soon hahah..
Well that was pretty stupid.
The video I mean. Your post is spot on.
I like the concept .
See my article on Fake News there's no doubt about the leash part...but being stupid doesn't appeal.
Oddly enough movie making has gotten a LOT cheaper. A few guys (or gals...sorry dear)..in their garage can put out stuff comparable to the big Movie Studios of not many years ago.
Like this.
Put out stuff like that and you got a legit argument.
But that crap you posted is the same song you see on TV, just a different verse.
I see. I guess there are plenty of dimensions to what entertainment is, and how it's appreciated.
These guys are just being the antithesis of deep, meaningful stuff and so happen to have scooped me up as someone who values their satire. One man's treasure is another man's trash lol. Very interesting input, thanks!
(that's a beautifully done video by the way!)
Nice, me too, a lot of mainstream stuff is just so boring and lack creativity. I just made a post about a game by an indie developer.
BTW I played that game you introduced, Shenzhen I/O, great game!
That's something I think about all the time, the mixture of entertainment and freedom minded content (especially about the free market) can be a huge thing in the future.
Yeah it could serve as a good bridge will well written enough content :)
Yeah I hope so :)
