Yep, having a family changes everything. I never read the book, but I did watch that film and yeah, powerful stuff. The scene where he set his money on fire really got to me. I actually just applied for citizenship in Liberland, so I am pretty interested to follow their development and see where they are going with that initiative.

Sad that in this joke of a "system" people are punished more severely the more productive they are. Middle class producers are being gutted, while the parasites "up top" just suck the blood and fruits of innovation, labor, and ingenuity. I don't blame folks like your friends for trying to avoid being exploited by being in poverty. It is a shit situation all around, really.
