Joe was just an average dude.

One day, he got the excellent idea of opening up a hot dog stand on his street near the park. Business began to boom. Everybody in the community got to know Joe and his one-of-a-kind, fresh off the grill hot dogs, complete with mustard, relish, and sometimes chili-cheese.

Then one day officer Bob showed up. Officer Bob told Joe he needed a license and took all of his funds for the day, telling him not to come back selling hot dogs again, or else he would be arrested. Officer Bob said food needed to be regulated for the sake of the public. Joe figured if his hot dogs were bad and made people sick, he would go out of business, so he always made sure his ingredients were fresh and healthy, and his tools and utensils were clean.

He also figured that people could decide to trust the quality of his food or not, based on performance. He tried to get a license, but the city government refused to grant him one, as his business was too small. Joe went back to being another bored stiff, working his 9 - 5, and quit selling hot dogs to the eager customers at the park.

Ronny was just a regular schoolteacher

with a small family, who also happened to become interested in crypto currencies and blockchain technology as a means to pad his income, invest in his daughter's future, and take a vacation now and then. Ronny began to make a killing investing in and trading cryptocurrencies. He was amazed at the ease of exchange and the efficiency and fairness of doing business without a middleman.

With the money he saved, he began to support local charities and goodwill initiatives he had always been interested in, but never had the funding to support. He began to use his cryptocurrency dividends to feed the homeless in his community, and buy books out of pocket for some of the children struggling at the inner city school where he worked.

Soon the IRS became interested in Ronny. It seems that making any money without approval of the state isn't allowed. Agents showed up at his house asking questions and threatening to put Ronny in jail. The charge? Ronny didn't have a license to be selling Bitcoins. He wasn't even selling officially. While at first the charity work and trading were very exciting, and something that felt like it was entirely his own unique, amazing thing, he now felt his enthusiasm flagging. Why try? he thought. The more money I make, the more they'll tax me. What once had felt like such a clean means of exchange had now become infected by worming parasites.

Real Life Parallel

Mike was an old man who wanted to feed the homeless.

He was a Christian guy living in Alabama who wanted to help those down on their luck. Every Sunday he and his crew of volunteers would set up next to their church and put on a very large soup kitchen and lunch for anyone and everyone in the area who was hungry and needed a hand up.

When the cops caught wind of it, their piggy tails began to wiggle. They immediately arrested Mike and shut down the soup kitchen. Sure, the homeless people would go without food, but old man Mike didn't have a license, and it is better to starve than to eat unlicensed food.

After Mike was released on bond, he went right back to work, set up the kitchen, and began to help again. The police found out once more, and put him in a cage once more for feeding people in need.

Sort:

Government annihiliates everything. It is the most strongly formed type of cancer in the world. Cancer. Parasite. Destroyer of all that is good.

It doesn't annihilate stupid.

Yeah. It breeds it. The welfare state is the epigenetic birthing ground for low-IQ people and the maintaining of an unintelligent, domestic, fucked up human. It's disgusting.

And yet, the state has been doing evil stuff like this all over the world for centuries! Still, so many continue to believe that public policy can improve the quality of their lives. What a joke!

Yes, there will be hell to pay for bad behaviors like this...

The state is indeed an evil beast, worthy of the most dire judgement.

😄😇😄

@creatr

Amen.

Seven heads, ten horns, always seeking to destroy and devour...it is "the beast" that works within government, always wanting to control--to take the place of G-d. It is exceedingly evil.

Hi, @steveitt. The state is indeed evil, but an evil that masquerades as an angel of light. And as such, has deceived and co-opted the church at large.

I've also written quite a bit about the whole deception, which (if you're interested) you can read in my Library. My GIF (above) links to the library, and those articles are largely on my Library Christianity and Liberty shelves... ;)

Excellent article Graham! The State has become a giant, irrational monster that eats resources and destroys good work in it's lust to control everything. Keep up your good, "voluntaryist" works (including writing).

G-d bless you, Graham. I pray you get to personally know the ultimate voluntarist, Yeshua (Jesus) as your Salvation, and eternal friend!

Already acquainted as far as I can tell man. Thanks for the kind words.

Totally agree with Mr Kafka @kafkanarchy84!
Fuck the state

Government = The enemy of mankind!

Government=Control of mind.

The enemy of mankind=mankind.

Except all those weren't Government Agents, regardless of what they say or the titles that they hold. Caveat Emptor.

The solution is to get unnecessary workers out of public sector, and into private sector jobs. When you have too many people working for the government, you can't bring in enough taxes to support the payroll. This is when economies go deep into debt.
