RE: A Song Dedicated to 1,000 Years of Irish Anarchy (Brehon Law and Stateless, Natural Law Governance)

in #anarchy6 years ago

That's not really anything like what I am saying. I am saying that the form of government that you are advocating for failed, that cherry got popped, why would it not fail the same way again?

Sort:

You are placing blame on the victim, which is the mindset of most statists. Instead of fixing the problem, blame the solution.

Oh, they were "victims", not inferior? Sounds like a victimization narrative. For anarchy as you describe to be the solution it must solve all of the problems that the state solves as you have described it thus far it has not, it does not solve the problem of some other state coming in there and taking over and occupying and imposing its will upon you. Living on your compound, growing your own fruits in humanure, taking the toll roads to the free market to barter your goods under the protection of your private security association is all wonderful until a state decides they want it.

Brutalizing peaceful people is now a “superior” idea??? Statist on, brother.

A system that can't protect it's peaceful people is inferior to one that can. The basic task that all states must do is protect their territory from other states, in the absence of a state who will protect your territory from other states? How do you solve the problem of the Chinese showing up to your utopian paradise and subjugating you?

You assume they had no system of protection. Why? Did you watch the video?

Should folks peacefully herding goats be blamed for getting droned by US foreign policy?

Missing the bigger picture here and making assumptions.

“Dinosaurs will get eaten by wolves” was a better (at least it was silly/funny) argument than saying “might makes right.”

Maybe that’s not what you’re saying. Either way, watch the vid so you can make some accurate criticisms, and the let’s talk.

Throwing around the tired ass “utopia” straw man isn’t helping either of us.

The basic task that all states must do is protect their territory from other state

Really??? Sure looks like the basic task is to conquer other states (at least where the US is concerned) and extort/subjugate the populace.

How is 1,000 years of relative peace in relative anarchy a “failure”? That’s nuts. How many years of peace has your “superior” extortion racket enjoyed in a row?

I watched the video, you stopped answering my questions about it, Dawn Defense is going to stop the Chinese? That will work as well as the disorganized Irish stopping the British wouldn't it?

It's a failure because it failed, it no longer exists, it is extinct because it didn't work.

You are complaining about imperialism and the US is guilty of that to some extent but you are using that as a criticism of all government, are all governments imperialistic?

Goat herders being droned is not really relevant to this specific discussion, unless you are using it as an example of how a tribal confederation without a strong central government can't protect it's people from being drone fodder from the US or any other state.

Not that they had no system, my assumption was that their system failed because it no longer exists and that it failed because of a basic and inherent flaw to that system, it's inability to protect people living in such a system from hostile states.

Not that video. The video about Brehon law/the Brehons.

If you are convinced humans are mostly bad and need nanny states made of these same bad people to “protect everyone,” that’s fine. I’m convinced the market can provide better solutions (it already does).

We’ll just have to disagree.

I think people are mostly good. There is no place you can point to where people live as you describe and thus you have to use a historical example but you seem not to want to look at why it failed. You need to come up with a system of anarchy that can prevent those living under it from being subjugated by the Chinese or Islamic jihadists.
