VILLAIN: The Three Dystopias Humans Fear And Why

in #anarchy8 years ago

Ask a person on the street what they think of the word ANARCHY and you will likely get one of these three responses:

1.) **INDIVIDUALIST DYSTOPIA** (Where evil corporations control everything and the poor/everyone are enslaved) -Think _Metropolis_ or _Mirror's Edge_.

2.) **COLLECTIVIST DYSTOPIA** (Where everything is controlled by an evil government like _1984_ or Nazi Germany) >Notice how I was able to use real life examples for this one!

3.) **POST APOCALIPTIC DESERT** (Where no one is controlling anything and everyone is killing (or eating) everyone because... scarcity. Like _Mad Max_ or _Fallout_.

The only fear here that seems even close to rational is the fear of a collectivist future. (_I'm biased because I'm confidant in my ability to survive the other two_.) But on a more serious note: **_Why are these three scenarios conjured up in a person's mind when the word 'Anarchy' is uttered in their presence?_** Instead of drowning you in a rant about the evils of government or corporate media, take a look at the reality in which we live, or, better yet, look at the common man's perception of reality. **It rests on a tightrope dangling between the tyranny of Collectivism and the tyranny of Individualism. There seems to be very few people who fear both of these simultaneously.** Those who can't make up their minds on which of these futures they fear most have the third option to look forward to. "Someone needs to be in control, whether its corporations or governments, and without a big dick we'll all be just a bunch of little dicks murdering each other." (Or in other words an apocalyptic future) **Most notably our two largest political ideologies revolve around these two dystopias, and when all else fails they BOTH call on Mad Max to convince you that they are necessary to your survival.**

'Anarchy' is the last resort, the one word future that can unite statists in their hatred of those do not secretly desire control over there fellow man, because in their conjuring of the word they can pat themselves on the back and say "At least I have a vision of the future." (When of course they don't have any vision beyond a list of shit they want their fellow humans to conform to) A lot of people say the word 'anarchy' is dead. That might be true, but that doesn't change the fact that it's really the single word that can accurately describe what anarchists want; an unruled life. When you think about it the state of anarchy in our present day reality it is much like the state of the word 'anarchy' itself: Mistreated and ignored, even by those who benefit most from it (think voluntaryism), yet alive on the internet, and spreading into the real world.
