It is with a bleeding heart and a speechless tongue that I write this to those who dare to listen to the increasing cries, pains and sufferings of the African girl Child. it is said that Children are gifts from GOD and without them the future of a nation is oblique and that they are unique creatures clothed in innocence but often a time, this innocence have been preyed upon by vultures disguised as family members, friends, neighbors etc. in this madness, age is not a barrier because over the years I have seen some scary shit happen to children of ages as low as 3- 6 months old.
After the fall of 2016, the defilement of the under-aged girls in my country has been on the rise and even infants at the age of 2 are not exempted. In one of the local News channels in Edo state, a 75 years old man was paraded by the police for allegedly raping his neighbor's 6 months old daughter but in is defense ,the accused said '' I only fingered her''. Hmm how disgusting. it all happened when the mother of the said girl child gave the child to the disgusting neighbor to look after while she quickly wash some dirty clothes. While washing, she heard the child crying, she stood up only to find the man's hand inside her Child’s underwear. He had the effrontery to say he only finger her.

What is humanity turning into? Have we lost our conscience? Have we lost that which personifies us as humans that are now behaving like animals?
We now leave in a world where a girl child is not even safe in her own home the only place where all things being equal security is guaranteed but not in this fearsome world we find ourselves today. A world where fathers abuse their daughters sexually.
What pleasure will a grown-up man derive from a sexual intercourse with a minor (a baby)? I think it can be likened to eating an unripe fruit, it is highly acidic and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

When a child is birthed, his/her mind is a blank slate awaiting information on the way of life ( culture) of his/her people and as grownups it is our responsibility to teach and not to stigmatize them.
‘‘I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside’’. Whitney Huston.
I know the world is getting scarier and spinning out of control but there must be a line no one is allowed to cross.
In April 2014, the extremist terrorist group Boko Haran group kidnapped 276 Chibok school girls ranging from the ages of 15-19 and government in their shortsighted ways of doing things played politics with the kidnapping. In October 13 2014 some of these girls gained freedom by escaping from where they were kept by the sect and they narrated their ordeal. according to them some of the girls were forced to become wives to sectional commanders of the sect while some were used as sex slaves .Out of 276 captured Chibok girls 113 are still in captivity four (4) years later and some of the rescued ones were found either pregnant or with child.

This year February 2018, the sect laid siege to technical college school in Yobe state, Nigeria and made away with 110 girls ranging from the age of 11- 19. This is not a ransom kind of Kidnapping but one that is sexually motivated. It took the government 3 – 4 years to rescue some of the Chibok girls, who knows how long the recent captured under age girls will be with the terrorist before they are recued.
During the time of my writing this Bashir Ahmed, a presidential aide disclosed in his tweeter handle that 76 of the recent kidnapped girls have been released by the sect though no confirmation has been made in regards his claim.
If we keep going on our present path then indeed humanity is doomed for sure.

I and my fellow national Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members took the message to government girl’s school(GSS) kuduru, Abuja on February 22 because if we must effect change or cause a paradigm shift in the way a girl child perceives the world and their role in general, we must start while their minds are still reachable. we also took time to sensitized them on the drugs, its effect and connection to rape.

It was not much but we are doing something to make sure the girl child is pre-informed in order not to fall a victim. What are you doing? Join the struggle for there is still enough room.

😭😭😭😭😭😭 the worst!!!!! How is this possible?!?!?! How can these men sleep at night

The feelings you have right now is nothing compared to mine seeing the baby on TV. Growing up, there was this 19 years old girl staying close to my school with her father who had 3 children and to us she was impregnanted by a street kid but one morning the girl's mother and some police men came to arrest her father claiming he is responsible for the 3 kids and the pregnancy she was also carrying. It was a shock to the neighborhood.
Your question is on point, " how do they sleep at night ?"
Not all men are bad because saying all men are will be a fallacy. The bad ones are just messing up things for the good ones

  1. I didnt say all men.
  2. It is all men in creating this society. You are highlightly the extreme but this is a symptom of patriarchy and toxic masculinity.

I know you mean well but do read these links and see ehy its important to not say #notallmen

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NotAllMen

I lovingly ask. What is next for your team? Why are you educating girls ? Are you educating boys and men?

I know you didn't say all men. My using the word " not all men " was never in defense of the male folk. I saw the link and i understand completely but it was not in that context that I made use of the word.
After seeing the link, I stand corrected.
Thanks

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate

To answer your question. That girl's school was our last bus stop but was not where we started from. We visited saint Theresa catholic school which comprise of both male and female and then GBSS ( government boys secondary school). It's not a one sided thing.

"to make sure the girl child is pre-informed in order not to fall a victim."

Preinformed of what? How to run away from your disgusting rapist father? How to not be molested as a helpless baby? How to not trust your disgusting ass neighbor with your kid? How to not get kid napped by armed militiamen?

Its completely one sided!

So many school girls have being lured by one tactics or the other in cases we have seen over the years either by kidnappers or by rapists while coming back from school. So informing them of this is not a bad idea. You are angry? Fine, I am too . I am not the bad guy here because that is how it seem right now.
The word preinformed is not in the context you are taking it to be.

It totally is!! Teaching girls self defense is useless unkess they fight or have weapons and even then they are still children. Teaching boys and men how to change each other and society???? That will hsve a much stronger impact. "How to not be akidnapper or rapist" do you believe these men came from nowhere? Its all over the world and its called patriarchy. Im beong tough because i have high hopes for you. I hope we take this further. You are not theeee bad guy. But i disagree with this approach very much

Yes I will also like to continue this discussion but on a chat platform. Where there can be a to and fro instant response. Thanks

Of course this goes on all around the world, but we have also had some really high profile cases here in Belize recently. A sweet 19 mo old baby ended up dying from her injuries. Because of the way the laws were written, he will only be charged with attempted murder. Another young child is still in the hospital. I see an unfortunate trend here where people want to protect these men or not start fights with the family of the man. It's changing, though, and that is happening by providing support for women and children who have been abused, calling out men who are known abusers whether charges are filed or not, teaching young girls self defense, and educating young boys on what is and isn't appropriate and why. Luckily sexuality is a much more open topic here than in the US where I lived before. It makes it a little easier to talk about it, though obviously a whole lot needs to change.

" what the hell is going on?" Things are spinning out of hand. Is there something we are not doing right as parent or as adult. A friend gave me a list of reasons rape has become rampant.
1* pornography
2* family issues
He said a lot which meant a lot of sense.

I think we are simply not teaching most boys a host of important things. Of course some individual families are good about teaching their boys, but lots of them never get these messages, and the larger culture - worldwide - is teaching all kinds of horrid messages.
Just a few things we need to shift in raising boys:

  1. Girls and women are their own people
  2. Men do not own women and children
  3. Therefore men do not have any rights over a woman's or a child's body
  4. Women are allowed to wear and say whatever they please
  5. No matter what they wear or say or do, men still don't have any right to touch them
  6. Men are able to control their sexual urges. They are not savage beasts.
  7. Men and women must be allowed the full range of who they are meaning everyone should have a balance of masculine and feminine energy
  8. Telling little boys to not cry and man up and be tough is part of the problem

That's a start.

Hmm. Yap I concur totally but only parents will not be 100% effective in covering all your points. I think schools should also be involved in this educations. It should be drawn into their curriculum.

I absolutely agree. We all need to be teaching and modeling these things to children, even people who don't have kids. It's an entire cultural shift that is needed. For sure schools need to be a part of that.

Just loved how you place the pictures . This help to demystify the contents from each other .

Thanks
