In the course of studying statistics within the context of I/O psychology, I've learned that there is a large discrepancy between what we think we know about causality and what we actually know about causality (jackshit). The Dunning Kruger effect is very common. In science you could study a phenomenon for decades without knowing A causes B, but some how when we get to the realm of politics we can easily infer causality in the blink of an eye as if this complex web of variables called reality were actually very simple and reducible to soundbite talking points.
